Episode #291
Do you want your board members to be effective fundraisers?
If so, here’s a simple exercise you can start with.
This “Why do you care?” exercise was created by Gail Perry. She has been using it to help generate more enthusiasm and commitment from board members. I think you’ll find it generates more enthusiasm from your board members as well.
In today’s video, Andrea Kihlstedt and Andy Robinson will guide you through the exercise.

Benefis Health System Foundation enjoyed a very successful Fundraiser for our annual fundraiser – this year to raise money for our Emergency Department Remodel and Reconstruction. It was an impressive event. It would be good to contact our Foundation President, Dan Hollow (danhollow@benefis.org) to share regarding his Board involvement.
Andrea Kihlstedt says
I’ve used this exercise many times now and it always works well. People enjoy it. They get to know one another better. And perhaps most important, they begin to realize why they care. By the time they’ve told three people their reasons for caring, they believe it more themselves. They literally talk themselves into caring even more!

We are a library association, the fundraising arm of the library. Is the question, why do you are about the library? Or why do you care about the library association.
Andrea Kihlstedt says
HI Marilyn, I’d make the question about the library. Something like “Why do you care so much about the library that you are willing to help raise funds to support it?”
