Episode #203
Here are 2 examples of ways volunteers, staff and board members can bring in new donors though community outreach.
In today’s video, Mazarine Treyz from Wild Woman Fundraising tells two stories:
1. The first story involves a city orchestra and how they were able to create new excitement in the community – which led to more donors.
2. The second story is about how a domestic violence organization was able to get new donors through community outreach.
Watch the video below to hear the two stories.
By the way, Mazarine is part of a project I did with 12 fundaising folks that’s called “100 Donors in 90 Days”. It’s been very successful in helping nonprofits all over the world find new donors. You can find out more about that project by clicking here.

Love the idea of engaging board members in Community Outreach via a “speakers bureau” approach.
Mazarine Treyz says
Thank you Olivia!
Speaking engagements are ESSENTIAL. For your particular cause, I’d recommend faith communities. And we’ve found no matter what kind of cause, devout donors are more faithful and generous than just about any other kind of donor.
Of course, in many faith communities there is a symmetry between the amount of wealth you have and the amount you give to charity. So that helps nonprofits that go to speak at churches, mosques, synagogues, etc.
so glad you liked the interview!

Mazarine

Great idea!
I founder a 501(c)(3) and non governmental organization in 2003, to help the women and children in war torn Liberia West Africa. Since then we’ve shipped two forty foot containers of books, school, medical supplies, food, etc. In 2009 I decided to work behind the scene to re brand the nonprofit.
In doing that I lost the few donors we had. Now I’m stuck and don’t know where to start in reintroducing the brand and generating new donors, creating a new team and board members.
Any ideas?

On of course get on program engagements with civic clubs and promise yourself after each presentation to stay and visit more one on one with members THEN invite one or more to a follow up tour or visit in which you learn more about them; show interest in them…go from there
2nd try to get a volunteer to help you engage with social media facebook twitter etc
