Episode #167
Would you raise more money if you had a stronger philanthropic culture at your organization?
In a previous episode, I featured Andrea McManus talking about the difference between fundraising and philanthropy. That video started many good discussions.
In this week’s video, Andrea continues on that theme and gives you 9 signs of a philanthropic culture to help you strengthen the culture at your organization. This is a video you might want to share with your board.
Today’s video is a bit longer than normal but I think it’s well worth it if you’re trying to build a stronger culture of philanthropy at your organization. Be sure to check out Andrea’s story about board giving when she talks about the 8th sign. It’s a story you will want to repeat to friends and board members.

Great story!

As we enter the holiday season, this presentation was a terrific reminder that giving is a lot more than a transaction–thank you! Would also recommend the chapter on Key Components of an Effective Organization from Tom Ahern and Simone Joyaux’s book Keep Your Donors. They include some practical tips on how to get the dialogue started within your organization.

Thank; again, a great video! Yes, that #8 is a stickler with us fundraiser especially when we ask for a handsome gift yet our own board members have not done so themselves!
Beth Ann Locke says
This is such an important issue! Thanks, Andrea, for making this so we better understand what philanthropy is, and bringing that forward to our boards (rather than fundraising).
